§ 61.103 Eligibility requirements:
- US Citizen. If you are not a US Citizen, you must apply for TSA approval via the FTSP program. Click here to learn about the TSA FTSP program.
- You can start at any age, but you must be:
- 16 Years of age to solo a powered airplane
- 17 Years of age to become a Private Pilot
- Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language. (see regulation above)
- Obtain a FAA Class III Medical (applied for during your first lesson)
- Note: If you decide to train for your Sport Pilot Certificate, you may not need a medical.
The first lesson at FalKor Aviation Academy is a 2 hour ground lesson. During this lesson, you'll work with your instructor to apply for your student pilot certificate (This is a real certificate (often referred to as a license.)) Next you'll apply for your FAA Medical Certificate, review the training program, review the syllabus, and conduct a preflight inspection of the aircraft.
If time permits, you'll tour the maintenance hangar and look at aircraft in various phases of maintenance to gain a better understanding of what goes on behind the cowling.
What to bring:
- Unexpired US Passport or Birth Certificate.
- Government-issued photo ID.
- Know your Social Security Number (used during student pilot application.)
- FAA Medical (if you have one.)
- Student / Pilot's Certificate (if you have one).
- Pilot Logbook (if you have one).
Time savings tip: If we added your account or you scheduled a discovery flight/tour, you received an email from Flight Circle. This is our online portal for scheduling and Lesson Grading. If you log in (using the temporary password sent to your email.) You will be prompted to e-sign the client agreement. On the agreement form, the system allows you to upload any documents you have. Don't worry, they aren't required to sign the agreement and access the schedule, but uploading them here will add them to your account.

All FalKor Aviation Academy clients enrolled in a course of study are required to purchase the following equipment. FalKor Aviation Academy does, on occasion, provide some items, but you should plan on purchasing the following items as part of your training.

- FAA Chart Supplement (Paper or Electronic)
- ASA Maneuvers guide (high wing or low wing as appropriate)
- Flight Computer (manual or electronic)
- If using Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) solutions, iPad, and appropriate subscriptions
- ForeFlight (recommended since your instructor knows this platform)
- Garmin Pilot (amazing platform)
- If using paper charts:
- Up-to-date paper charts for the area.
- Plotter

Instrument Students:
